Brick By Brick: Helping Kuda BuildGospel in Action (GIA), SRW’s social action committee, is continuing to raise funds for Kuda, a small village in Nigeria. We initially learned of their urgent need for many things, including medical facilities and supplies, through Fr. David Bridling, a local priest originally from Kuda. It is our mission as Christians to help the poor, the sick, and the needy. The people of Kuda are most certainly in need as they have suffered greatly over the last decade from terrorist attacks causing hundreds of deaths. GIA’s goal is to raise money for a health center for the Kuda community.
The people are very excited. They have started making bricks for the health center and are looking forward to the building process and getting this build underway. Sadly the need for this facility is more urgent than we can express. We have recently been notified of 3 deaths in the village in a week’s time. Through the generosity of SRW parishioners during our festival’s Nachos for Nigeria drive and the Advent Giving Tree GIA has raised some money toward this goal, but there is a long way to go.
Truth be told, without knowing the people you’re helping it’s hard to form a connection, but in the coming weeks you will come to know the people of Kuda through the eyes of Fr. David and his stories. You will come to know the very faces of those you will be helping.

Parish MissionWho Do You Say That I Am? Who Is Jesus? And Why Does that Matter to Us?
The divinity of Jesus and His humanity.
The Parish Mission will take place at St. John of the Cross this year and will be given by Father Marty Dober. He will address Jesus’ divinity on the first night March 19th, and His humanity on the second night March 20th. Fr. Marty will reflect on the mystery of God's presence with us as Jesus Christ and the way that his divinity and humanity have vital significance for the way we live our lives.
Father Martin Dober grew up in Berea, Ohio. He is one of 8 siblings. He attended St. Mary Parish School in Berea and then Benedictine High School. After high school he entered Borromeo Seminary and attended John Carroll University, graduating in 2014. He then continued his priestly formation at St. Mary Seminary and was ordained in 2019. For his first priestly assignment he is one of the parochial vicars at St. John Vianney Parish in Mentor.

February 24th - The Way of the Cross According to Matthew - Together in Matthew’s Way of the Cross we follow Jesus and his followers to Jerusalem and Golgotha, the Place of the Skull.
March 3rd - SRW Family Stations ”- Come and pray these stations as a family. With prayers focusing on family life, this is a great way for families to prepare their households for the inward reflection that the season of Lent offers us.
March 10th - Social Justice Stations of the Cross - Join us on Jesus' journey to Calvary focusing on the many people who continue that walk to Calvary, carrying heavy, difficult crosses and reminding us to bring justice, mercy, and peace to all.
March 17 - "Mary's Way of the Cross" - As we celebrate the Feast of St. Joseph, we are reminded that Joseph and Mary were always pointing to Christ. In these stations, through Mary's eyes, we see what Jesus was going through on the way to Calvary.
March 24 - "Lead Me to the Cross" - These Stations of the Cross are presented through musical selections encompassing both traditional and contemporary music helping us, in a deeper, unique, and spiritual way, to walk with Jesus on his journey to the cross.
March 31 - "Born For This" - As we walk the Stations of the Cross, we turn to the Gospel of Mark to pray, meditate, and contemplate in the company of those who crossed Jesus' path or who became his followers on his life journey to Golgotha.
April 7 - (beginning at 7:00) - "Living Stations" - Join us as our LIFE TEEN members lead us in an emotional performance of our Savior’s journey to the cross. Please note: There is no Mass on Good Friday.
