What is Anointing of the Sick?
Anointing of the Sick is a Sacrament of Healing for those who are seriously ill. A priest anoints the sick person's forehead and palms of their hands with blessed oil, saying the words, "Through this holy anointing may the Lord in his love and mercy help you with the grace of the Holy Spirit. May the Lord who frees you from sin, save you and raise you up." Spiritual, psychological, and even physical healings are the fruit of this Sacrament. See James 5:14-15.
Who can be anointed?
Those who are seriously sick or undergoing a life-threatening illness, those preparing for a major surgery, those suffering from a severe physical, psychological, or spiritual debilitation, and all elderly people who experience the limitations that come with their age are candidates for the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick. If you have questions about whether you or a loved one should receive this healing sacrament, please just ask Fr. John or Fr. Thom. They are happy to help!
When can I be anointed?
The sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is available to you or your loved ones at any time. Simply call the Parish Office (216.731.1515) to set up a time for the priest to anoint.
Ss. Robert & William also provides Masses with Anointing of the Sick twice a year. See the schedule below for Anointing Mass info
