Ss. Robert and William International Family Festival, Aug. 15, 16, 17 and 18, Serves Homemade Pierogi, Hosts Vintage Car Cruise In and Brings Community Together to Share the Best of Summer!
Join us at the Ss. Robert and William International Family Festival, August 15, 16, 17 and 18, at 367 E. 260th St., Euclid. Enjoy live bands, rides, games of chance, homemade ethnic foods and bakery, grilled favorites, fresh-squeezed lemonade and adult beverages!
Cruisin will play popular Motown hits on Friday, Rockfile will play crowd-pleasing rock favorites on Saturday, while Sunday holds three acts: The Don Wojtila Orchestra, Phil ‘n the Blanks, and Father McNeil’s Country Hour.
New to the 2013 festival is Gametruck, the ultimate mobile video game party, a climbing wall and laser tag. Also, new for Sunday only: An old-fashioned car “Cruise In” all afternoon and giant fire trucks and other city vehicles from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Touch-a-Truck, compliments of the City of Euclid.
Euclid Beach Rocket Ship Car rides will be back on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, along with pony rides. The award-winning St. Ignatius Circus Company will entertain festival-goers with juggling, magic tricks and unicycle riding. Painted Peacock face painting will be available on Friday and Saturday.
The Casino Area will have games such as money wheels, “Over & Under” dice tables, “Big 6 Wheel” and Instants.
The Children’s Area will feature a prize wheel, crafts, face painting and games such as Knock-down-the-Cat, Birthday Wheel, Dime Toss, Giant Plinko, Putt-Putt and Pasta Smash. Weary parents of toddlers will appreciate the Little Tykes Play Area, complete with adult seating!
Game tickets for the Kiddie Korner will be sold at .25 each and can be used for games, activities and crafts. Some games and activities may cost one, two, or four tickets each. Crafts and kids games will end at 10:00 p.m. on Thursday and at 10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
“Old Fashioned Sunday” Car Cruise In, Touch-a-Truck, Ice Cream Sundaes…and more!
Cruisin’…on a Sunday afternoon…is the theme on Sunday as festival-goers take a walk back in time and check out beautifully restored vintage cars from days gone by, located in a special section of the SRW parking lot. An ice cream sundae bar will also be available. Kids can climb aboard a fire truck or police car during the Euclid Touch-a-Truck display.
Polka Mass at 11 a.m. Sun., Aug. 18
An 11 a.m. Polka Mass, featuring the Don Wojtila Orchestra with Father John Betters presiding, will have attendees foot-tapping and two-stepping through this fun (yet still reverent) mass which highlights the cultural heritage at Ss. Robert and William.
A wide variety of festival and ethnic food favorites are being prepared, including homemade pierogi made by a team of SRW parishioners. Also, hot from the grill: sizzling BBQ ribs, BBQ and baked chicken, brats, hamburgers and hot dogs. Additional homemade ethnic favorites like cabbage and noodles, as well as Italian favorites such as cavatelli, sausage sandwiches, chicken parmesan and meatball sandwiches will be ready to go. Save room for a loaded gyro (regular or chicken) and fresh onion rings from Freshly’s of Willoughby. New this year: Clams! Sip refreshing homemade lemon shake-ups, Cleveland’s own Great Lakes Beer products and cold pop.
Top off the festival meal with cotton candy, root beer floats, ice cream cones, strawberry shortcake, sundaes, or a refreshing fruit cup. Snack on some freshly popped kettle corn made by Savannah’s Sweet and Salty Kettle Corn. Stop by the Pastry Booth in classroom #1 for homemade bakery lovingly made by SRW Seniors. Take-home boxes will be available.
$10,000 Raffle, Get Connected Technology Raffle and Chinese Auction Baskets
The $10,000 Grand Raffle Prize winning ticket will be drawn Sunday evening as the festival comes to a close. The Chinese Raffle Auction, with loaded baskets of gift certificates and prizes, will take place at 7 p.m. while the Main $10,000 Raffle and the “Get Connected” Raffle, featuring technology prizes, will take place at 7:45 p.m. There is a second place prize for $2,000 and third place is $1000.
