Sister Irene is the Pastoral Associate at Ss Robert and William Parish. She has been an Ursuline Sister for 54 years. After enjoying many years of teaching in the Congregation’s two high schools, Beaumont and Villa Angela, she returned to studies and subsequently became a certified ecclesial minister. From the time that she began ministering at St. William until the present, she looks at her service as a humbling privilege. She says that she is continually enriched by her many contacts with children and adults of all ages. Sister attended the Immaculate Conception School (Willoughby), St. Mary Magdalene, Villa Angela Academy and Ursuline College. It is no wonder that after sixteen years of Ursuline training, she would be attracted to sharing the sisters’ life as a member of their Congregation. For relaxation, Sister likes to spend time with her many nieces and nephews and her beloved Nadia who has adopted Sister as her babushka (grandma in Russian). When asked what she loved most about being a Catholic, she responded that Mass and the Eucharist are what keep her going. She is convinced that it is the sacramental life of the Church that is the great unifier for healthy family life.
